MIRC Client Tutorial

This tutorial was written on windows vista ultimate, however should work on windows xp and 2000 also. MIRC is shareware that is like winzip. It asks you to register, however after the 30 days are up, it will continue to let you use it, you will always have to click continue (as noted below). ALSO NOTE that this tutorial was written before we acquired podnet, therefore, we have edited some images to reflect podnet.

1. First, get MIRC: http://www.mirc.com/get.html
Our copy of Mirc (exactly the one used for this tutorial is at: mirc.exe

2. Install MIRC as the Images below show:

3. Click Continue:

4. Fill in the info accordingly, you may use the same username of your choice in all 3 fields like I did. After this data is entered, uncheck invisible mode, then click on the servers link

5. click add:

6. Fill in the info exactly as 1 has it, then click add (2)

7. Double Left Click on Podnet on irc.podnet.org

8. Click Options once you see a screen that is similar to this below:

9. Connect on startup, and ok it:

10. Click the connect button (Ignore the different names you may have for a connection name):

11. Below is what it will look like as its connecting (Please ignore the different server address)

12. It will then pop up this window: Fill it in as shown, replacing #rsnet with your desired channels:

13. It will connect and show you something similar to this (click the image to enlarge in a new window):

14. To Exit mirc, click the x in the corner, then ok it.

IMPORTANT: When Entering MIRC in the future, you will need to click continue, then ok as shown (Once again, connection names / information printed to your screen will vary).
