Colloquy Client Tutorial
Written by FusionFox

If you want to download an IRC client for your Mac instead of using the online options, Colloquy is a client made just for OS X that is free and easy to use.

Download ::: http://colloquy.info/downloads/colloquy-latest.zip

Once you've downloaded the zip file, extract the app and drag it to your applications folder. Open Colloquy and in the Window menu, select Connections.

IRC Chat OSX 1

In the window that appears, click New.

IRC Chat OSX 2

The new connection window that appears should be filled out like this, with whatever chat name you want in the nickname field.

Type irc.podnet.org as the Chat Server (The image has been edited to show podnet).

IRC Chat OSX 3

Once connected to the server, right click and select get info

IRC Chat OSX 4

In this window, looking at the Automatic tab, select Connect on launch.

Then click the + next to Join Rooms and type in your desired channel (This case, its #help).

IRC Chat OSX 5

When you next open the application, you will automatically join the chat room. If you have registered a nick on the server, you can put your password into the information for the connection and you will also be automatically logged in and/or opped.
